Situation
A North American manufacturing facility in the food services industry was relocating to a new region in another part of the country. They approached EDI to provide a turnkey solution for the move. With so many components to the transfer one central project management team needed to spearhead the operation. EDI was chosen based on their many years experience and success in executing this type of transition.
Solution
EDI was able to provide a wide range of services to the client and project manage all elements of the move. This included planning with the municipality, acquiring permits, decommissioning the existing site, removing all the process machinery and proprietary equipment, crating all machinery and transport to the new facility.
At the new location, EDI completed all on-site set up requirements including electrical, millwrighting, mechanical piping and air handling. The entire move from start to finish was accomplished in a 10 week period. The value of this extensive project was $3.6 million.
Result
Despite the number of outside forces and potential delays, the move was completed on time and on budget. At the end, the customer was one week away from exhausting their built up inventory and no sales orders were lost in the transition.
